My Prom 2015

So I thought I would share some of my prom pictures with you today as I love seeing how glamorous other girls look at their prom or getting inspiration for my own dress for when my time came. I bought my dress back in February 2015 because I just absolutely fell in love with it. I went to Something Special in Ely which is a shop that sells all different types of prom dresses catering for girls with all kinds of tastes and in all kinds of shapes. Originally we just went there to look and try on some different styles ready to buy my dress closer to the date of my prom but once I had tried this dress on I knew it was 'the one' and didn't dare put it back in case I never found anything better.

If you have read any of my Motivational Monday posts such as this one then you will know I like to be a little bit different from other people. One of my best friends recently summed my style up as being 'classy' and I guess with out realising it, I do tend to stick to more elegant things. I wear heels and nice dresses and I've never been seen in joggers (not that there's anything wrong with that of course!) but that was the direction I wanted to head to for my prom dress. Different but Classy.

My dream dress was a backless, fishtail dress but with sleeves so I wouldn't have to keep pulling it up and that was exactly what I found. I'm not just saying because I got one that I love, you can ask all of my friends and family, that was what I had dreamt of for years but aways thought I would have to sacrifice at least one thing as no dress would be built like that; But no, I found it and I love it.

I'm wearing ballet pumps under my dress in these photos because I didn't want to A) Be taller than my family in photos and B) I didn't want to sink into the grass but I did put them on in the car. The heels I wore were these from Carvela at Kurt Geiger and despite me already being 5'10" I did choose to wear five inch heels and was totally OK with that! Some people don't understand why tall people wear heels but that's fine because I don't understand why some people choose to wear crocs.

I kept my makeup quite dark on the eyes but also quite simple. I went for a couple of dark shades on the outer edge and crease from the Naked basics 2 palette and put the shade 'Caught in the act Courtney' which is a dark brown with some shimmer in it on the outer edge of my eye and the shade 'Devilish Danielle' in the inner and middle part of my eye to lighten the look up; Both shades are from The Balm Shady lady Volume 2 Palette. I lined my Eye with a gel liner, added some mascara and off I went. On my lips is MAC lipliner in 'Soar' and lipstick in 'Craving' which I wear all the time.

Just thought I would add two obligatory friend photos at the venue. Top one is with Chloe and the bottom one is with Alice who I have spoken about on here loads! Chloe wore Converse under her dress despite it being ultra glamorous!

I absolutely loved prom and my dress and really want to wear it again. It has been exactly a week today since prom and I can still remember each and every little detail of the night.

Just do it.

Don't think about going, just go. The trouble is, as humans, we are constantly planning ahead:

"Oh I'll do it next week"
"I'd like to go to London some time in the future"
"Maybe next time"

But what is there is no 'next time'?

I recently came across this quote on Pinterest and instantly fell in love. Why think about doing something in the future when you don't know whats going to happen tomorrow? Everything could be over in a split second and you will look back wondering why you didn't do it sooner. You hear about all these things happening on the news: Major car crash, Airplane down, Man left paralysed after accident. You always think that it will hopefully never happen to you but you never know what could happen in the space of a week, a month, a year or your lifetime which stops you from doing all the things you ever wanted to complete.

Stop planning and just do it. If it matters to you then you will make time to do it. If you want to meet up with your old school friends and you plan to do it in the next two months, why are you waiting so long? Do it tomorrow or next week. make time for the things that matter incase you won't be able to do them in the future.

If you want to see the world then 'Travel while you're young and able. Don't worry about the money, just make it work. Experience is far more valuable than money will ever be'

Don't look back wishing you had done something that you never did. Never live with regrets.

My Hidden Desk Beauty Stash.

A beauty stash in your work area. Ok, so a lipstick, a touch up eyeliner and obviously a powder for that afternoon shine on your face. They are obviously a beauty bloggers essentials you would think right? Wrong! When I'm working at my desk I don't usually have makeup on because I cant rub my eyes and blow my nose and stuff (you know, practicality and all?) and now that I am finally ill (I say finally like it's a good thing. It isn't but I haven't felt great for the past week but now I am officially ill, I have an excuse so every cloud has a silver lining and all) I need to think of streaming eyes and a red nose.

My desk beauty stash actually consists of some pretty boring products. Kleenex tissues? These are actually the reserve stash as I always have a toilet roll on my desk because they are a) Cheaper and b) more practical, just tear and go. I also have two Soap and Glory Products. The Hand food and Righteous Butter which to be honest hardly ever get used. I'm not going to lie and say that whenever I find a dry patch on my arm, I'll reach for my body butter and dab it on because I don't. I don't have time for that and it's sticky. I can just about tolerate sticky body butter at night when I'm going to sleep but in the day? Ugh gross. And who can type on a laptop or scroll through Instagram with wet slimy hands? Not me. But the do get used, sometimes.

Ok, A nail file I do use and it gets used all the time. I am constantly buying more of the Essence 2way profi file nail file as I love them and who repurchases a nail file? I have never done it before but this just leaves your nails so smooth and although it's an absolute bargain, it doesn't leave little bits of you nail still attached (like a layer of nail? This is really hard to explain) so I have one in my office and one in my bedroom and another in my bag. I have an obsession with this nail file ok?!

Lip balm: A necessity and yes, these do get used. The chap stick more because then you have sticky lip balm on your finger that you end up wiping down your trousers because you don't know what to do with it and don't lie to me, we have all done it. I have the Apple Chapstick and the Rosy lips Vaseline but mine is in the old boring packaging. To be honest, I love them both. You just have to have a lip balm at your desk.

Last thing is a hairband. I had the problem this morning that I had one hairband in my hand and I went to tie my hair up and it snapped. This is why you should always have a spare one. I usually buy mine from Primark which are like 40 in a pack or something for £1.00 so you can't really go wrong.

The Tropical Printed Jacket.

This post is little overdue as the photos were taken over a week ago but the weather hasn't changed that much so it isn't that bad that its a little late, I mean are 'Exams' a good excuse?

But seeing as this post is finally here, you may have gathered that I'm now finished with learning for a while (whoop whoop) and I am now all yours! Well kind of... All that means is that I should be coming to you with more blog posts and hopefully start filming videos for my Youtube Channel again as I have really missed it and I have until the end of July to basically devote myself to this so lucky you!

Anyway, enough rambling. On with the outfit!

So I recently took a trip to nearby village which I am pretty sure I have talked about loads on my blog  before but I absolutely adore going there and having a look round the big antique warehouse and having afternoon tea in the little cafe and of course, walking around the park. I found these old railway tracks which I did know were in existence as they also have the original platform at the entrance but I got my inner poser out and created my own little photoshoot hehe. Safe to say, I got a few weird looks.

I picked this Jacket up from Primark about two weeks ago for £3.00! I had seen it not too long before for £17.00 which still obviously isn't too bad but I always do this thing in Primark where if anything is above £15.00 I have to do some major justifying as it's classed as 'expensive' but if I had seen a jacket like this for under £20.00 in Topshop, I would snap it up straight away without hesitation. Its strange and I don't really know why I do it. Im just tight!

Anyway this jacket is such a fun item of clothing for the summer and should carry me though after when it gets chillier in the Autumn months. Its that thinner slightly wrinkly material (like crepe paper, do you know what I mean?) that is perfect for this time of year when there is slightly colder days and they even have them in plain black and white for the more neutral girls. I think this just adds to any outfit and really makes you pop with out looking stupid and I just really really like it!

Jacket | Primark
Vest | River Island (Similar here)
Jeans | Topshop
Pumps | Topshop
Bag | Primark (old)
Necklace | Brandy Melville
Sunglasses | Primark

My jeans and pumps are both from Topshop and I have worn these both so much. The pumps I saw on Sammi from Beauty Crush and instantly fell in love with the simplicity. It took me a while to find them in my size and ended up ordering them online and they weren't the comfiest to begin with but once I had worn them in, they are lovely just to slip on and go and have lasted quite a long time for shoes with a floppy structure. They are made the same way as ballet shoes (like this) obviously just with a harder sole but you do get a little note with them to say that they aren't the most hardwearing shoes which I understand but I love them anyway.

An Accidental Beauty Haul

It was an accident I swear! Well, maybe not so much of an accident but you know how it is. I live in the country and when you go to London for the day, strange things happen and this was me holding back. Trust me, It could have been a lot worse... *shudders*

I popped into Boots, MAC and Urban outfitters and these are the gems I found!

Fisrt stop was obviously MAC. I found the one on Carnaby street and had my eyes set on a new eyeshadow. Not too expensive, save your bank card for the rest I thought but it didn't end that way.

I headed to MAC with the idea that a new eyeshadow would be nice because obviously I didn't already own enough. I walked into the shop and realised that it was a pro store, much to my mums dismay as she knew this wouldn't end well. First stop: Eyeshadows. Right, I don't own anything in this colour so obviously it is a necessary investment. Then my mum pointed out the minis that tend to sit at the counter when you are the most vulnerable. On my way there I spotted the MAC white 'face and body' foundation that I had lusted after for quite a while so I could lighten up my foundations to save me buying loads of different shades therefore making it a justified purchase because it would save me money in the long run. Probably.

So as I just mentioned, MAC have started selling mini pigments, lip glosses and mascaras along with the travel size makeup bases or essentials that you can't really see under your makeup for £10.00. I would probably never get through a whole pigment and I had wanted the pigment in the shade 'blue brown' because it is a gorgeous brown shade an when the light hits it, it has blue shimmer running through it so I just had to have it!

Last stop: Selfridges. Ok the the lip liner purchase wasn't meant to happen. After searching in every MAC shop for the last six months for the lip liner in 'Soar' I had given up. Carnaby street was my last shop but I couldn't resist taking a quick peak at the lip liners in Selfridges and surprisingly they had it; well they actually had about 25 so the whole of London's stock but I just couldn't resist one last London treat. They lovely sales assistant also popped in a mascara sample so it was a two for one deal. Once again a justified purchase.

Left: MAC lipliner in 'Soar'
Right: MAC eyeshadow in 'Mythology'

Just look at that stunning eyeshadow, I couldn't resist. It looks even better as a foiled eyeshadow (is that the right term?) or just when packed on with a damp brush.

The Balm 'Shady lady' Volume two Eyeshadow palette | Available here
Collection Gorgeous glow Highlighter | Boots

Next stop: Urban outfitters.  I climbed three flights of stairs, big stairs too, to get to the sale section because I just can't resist a bargain and a bargain I got, well three in fact but this was the main one. The balm is a brand I have looked at for ages, mainly because they have snazzy (I love that word) packaging and cool names and if you have stuck around for a while you will know that I am a sucker for packaging. This amazing palette was reduced from £28.00 down to a fiver! I could not believe it. So if you are obsessed with eyeshadow just like me and also around Oxford street Urban outfitters then take a look because there were loads there, just check inside as some were smashed or had broken mirrors. Also, Urban Outfitters have lifts at the back of the shop so use them if you are as unfit as me. By the time I got up there I was so out of breath I had to stop for a moment. That was two minutes of precious shopping time wasted.

Jumping away from Urban Outfitters for a second, or two depending how quickly you read, I went to Boots as well but had decided not to splurge and set myself a £5.00 shopping budget just incase something really had to be bought. I noticed the new (or maybe not so new?) Collection highlighter thing. It reminded me of the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick, just at a fraction of the price and Summer is near enough here and everyone needs a bit of glow in their life.

Scunci Fringe roll | Available here
Anatomicals Eye gel | Available here

Back to Urban Outfitters: Both of these products were reduced from £4.00 down to just a pound! I just wanted to give both or these a go so I decided to pick them up as they were such a bargain, I decided it wouldn't matter too much if I didn't love them I really was in a spendy mood.

Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry Shower gel and hand wash | Available here and here

Hopping back to Boots: (All these movements are wearing me out just thinking about doing them hence the reason why I struggled to get up three flights of stairs.) I spotted that Original Source was on sale and the scents that they have are gorgeous my favourite being this one. Both were reduced to a pound so I picked up the shower gel and hand wash as they idea of smelling like raspberries and vanilla just sounds so good that I couldn't resist.

Star Studs | Available here
Jewel stud | Available here

So I know this isn't beauty but I found my self in possession of yet another Body Jewellery shop package. I just love their earrings and love all the different designs that they sell.

So the bottom pair of Star Studs are perfect for me as they haven't itched or made my ears red like many earrings do and they are cheap but good quality. I really love the design as well because it's cute. Usually I don't like the word 'cute' but that is the way I am going to explain these because they are cute and dainty and perfect with any outfit. You can wear them in the day but also work with a fancy dress in the evening so they are a must have in your earring collection.

The stud in my second lobe piercing is actually a Labret stud which is for your lip. However, little me didn't realise this until hunting down you link for you but it has worked as a stud so it will stay that way as I don't think it's doing any harm. One thing I find with my seconds is that a butterfly back often gets caught in my hair but because this is a flat back, I haven't had that problem so it is perfect.

Feather Helix earring | Available here

Lastly, I have another piece of helix jewellery once again from Body Jewellery shop which I will definitely be wearing in my helix once it is full healed. I love feathers and I also have my eye on this feather stud as well! It is once again quite a cute and dainty piece but because it is a feather going through your ear it just looks really cool and is quite different from anything else I've ever seen.

Blue Vanilla

It's that time of year again where you find yourself jumping in and out of fields to get great photos with bright colours. This time, I found myself doing this in five inch heels, I wouldn't recommend it.

Top | Blue Vanilla *
Jeans Topshop
Bag | Miss Selfridge. Similar here
Wedges | New look. Similar here
Heaphones | Skinny dip (old)

Ripped jeans and a casual tshirt has been my go to outfit recently as you still feel comfy but with an edge. I went to London yesterday for the day and wore a plain grey shirt, a trench coat, these jeans and my Converse and I was super comfy but I felt good and didn't think I looked to shabby. I tend to stick to black jeans but these are obviously a bit different but I wear these all the time so I would definitely recommend you get yourself some but if your budget doesn't stretch that far, why don't you do a DIY on a pair of old jeans or pick some up in Primark for about £10 and get your own ripped denim look (there's plenty of tutorials all over the internet).

I flipping adore this tshirt and it really spices up any outfit as the material is so super soft and feels a little bit silky. I love being individual and this top really adds to that but without being too obvious. The space and paisley print is utterly gorgeous and so eye-catching that I knew that I just had to have it.

If you aren't really one for jeans and a shirt, this also makes the best lounging top because of the material and how loose it is. If you are thinking about ordering it, just watch the sizes as I am normally a medium in most tops but this is really quite baggy as it is a size 12 where as I stick to a size ten to twelve as I believe that that makes it a little bit smaller. I'm probably very wrong but I'm not that clued up on sizing!

Where have I been?!

Hey hey, I'm back! Well, not quite yet. So I've just finished my ninth exam of the exam period making me half way through the whole lot *has a little dance party in spinny chair*. Now I know I promised a whole lotta posts but revision has obviously taken over recently but as soon as I finish my exams on the 16th of June, I will work my little (or not so little) butt off to get posts up for you guys!

I just thought that I would pop back to inform you of what is going on incase you were wondering where I had disappeared to and I am so looking forward to taking pictures and talking to you again. I would also like to apologise for not posting a lot on Instagram but, once again, revision has taken over and I haven't been anywhere or had anytime to take any pretty pictures.

Sorry once again and thank you for sticking with me!
